So, your school shut down. Now what?

My school, Sage Hill, shut down on Thursday. Online classes begin Monday for a week, then we have Spring Break. While they did say we would be coming back to campus after the break, none of us really believe it will be that soon.

For many of us, myself included, being stuck at home sounds like a blessing in disguise. Now, I have endless loads of free time on my hands, school for just 3 days next week, and nowhere else to go! But, the question is: now what?

I decided to start my lockdown period by watching all the Marvel movies by order of the timeline. Thus far, I’ve been successful in watching seven out of the twenty-one available movies, so there’s been a lot of epic battles, ships blowing up, and people yelling out dramatic things in my life. On the more productive side, I’m bullet journaling during this time as a way to stay organized without the routine provided by school. Categories include “Daily Updates,” “Goals,” and tracking my progress in AP Chem. With classes starting back up online on Monday, I’ll be interested to see how this progresses.

This quarantine provides me a chance to work on my writing as well, so I’m using this as a way to stay focused and accomplish a lot of my goals that I usually get distracted from.

Finally, I’m texting and chatting with friends over IM and Instagram. On one of my groupchats, we were discussing a playlist on Spotify that someone made entitled, “Coronavirus [covid-19] Quarantine Party.” Needless to say, I appreciate the sense of humor among all the dismal news updates.

A reminder to stay healthy out there, don’t go out unnecessarily, and remember that the flu is worse at this point. Scientists are working nonstop, so do your part to keep you and others safe and do not panic! There is no need for mass hysteria.
